a day late and a dollar short 3-25-'xx: 6:05pm yesterday was a BAD idea. if I had known that I was going to do so well as far as getting the quarter extended, I wouldn't have even bothered to go. but of course, I'm a wuss so I assumed that I would have to do some major ass-kissing. and you kinda have to be present to do ass-kissing. so I dragged myself out of bed after getting about 1 1/2 hours of sleep due to coughing, got dressed and ready to face the day. my dad tried to talk me out of going but of course, being the asshole I am, I refused. went to safeway and got myself a bottle of robitussin and assured him "I'll be okay, really. I'll live." I felt better after taking a few teaspoons of robitussin. for like, five minutes. then, in the middle of "tico tico", I had a coughing fit. of course. larsen asked me "you going home after this?" I should have taken a hint from him...I obviously didn't look so hot. first thing mcccartney says to me: "you sure you want to be here?" geez. but I am determined to tough the day out. then, I find out that the essay due that day was supposed to be 5-7 pages long...mine was three. stretching it. auuuuuugggghhhh. so I have to plead for an extention...which was happily given to me, surprisingly. "you almost have an a, though, don't you? so it would be a good idea to take the weekend to fix it up." well, I'll be damned! I then went off and saw my counselour about scheduling for next year. I am very fortunate in the fact that my counselour happens to like me, for whatever reason. it's beyond me, but she's always happy to fix my schedule and get info for me. this time, I needed to give her my list of classes for next year, along with a PE waiver form...plus I needed to collect something she had dug out of my files that she "couldn't let go down to the basement and then be destroyed." it turned out to be a sheet of pictures from elementary school, all the pictures I'd had taken to me on "picture day." she said "they were simply angelic!" I was a damn cute little kid, I must admit. I don't know what happened. anyway, so she says I should have no problem getting my three semesters of PE waived because of my classload, and entered all eleven classes I had lined up into the computer. they are as follows (and should end up in this order): [0hr] swing choir [1hr] IB english [2hr] IB 20th century world hist. [3hr] physics [4hr] wind ensemble [5hr] string ensemble [6hr] journalism [7hr] IB music/percussion ensemble (alternating days)[8hr] marching band (sem1)/ symphony orchestra (sem2). pretty much the same as this year, 'cept with wind ensemble instead of music theory, physics instead of trig, and journalism instead of release/consumer ed. it will be NICE to have no math. concerning the wind ensemble thing...I really HOPE that works out. see, I kinda signed up without asking lane about it. so later, when I need to have him sign my missing credit form (marching band '98), I ask him abou tit. he said he'd see what turned out...meaning whether I get in or not depends on what kind of talent we have. fortunately, I have a pretty good idea of talent....most of the incoming juniors can barely read music, and no one in the incoming sophomore bracket sticks out like eric did. I have a pretty solid chance, since I "read like a mad dog" according to larsen. lane did, however, give me an a for marching band two years ago, without even giving it a second thought. which is a good sign. shows he has faith in me. anyway, so the day was just kinda crappy otherwise. I managed to get everything pushed back to monday. I felt like shit, though, and ended up coming home and sleeping. then, being awake for two hours and eventually just hitting the sack early. blah blah. and that was yesterday. ←/ b a c k w a r d / f o r w a r d /→ |
