dumb cars, drum corps, dennys crap 6-3-'o1: 12:12pm i've decided that i'm bad luck for any kind of car. it isn't just my dad's red bug that i curse...it's every car i touch. watch out. take last night, for instance. i went to both showings of the odd couple yesterday, and then to merrick's house for the cast party. which was great...LOTS of food, fun people to hang out with, bad karoke. at first i sat at the table and ate food with andrew, eric, and erik. i hadn't hung out with andrew in a really long time and i forgot how hilarious he is. he would always crack some joke right when my mouth was full of food...i'd start cracking up and i'd have to cover my mouth to make sure food didn't fly everywhere. i can't even remember what he said that was so funny. i had invited eric when he came and sat with me at the final show...he was a nice addition. merrick had chocolate covered strawberries...one of the yummiest things EVER. i hadn't had them in years. and there wree rice krispie treats...ones made with rice krispies and with cocoa pebbles. and these SO yummy chocolate/peanut butter cookies that mer's mom said she got off allrecipies.com...oh man. yesterday was a dark dark day for my diet. anyway, so eventually a bunch of us ended up in mer's room just sitting around and talking. which is what happens at most parties. i came to the conclusion once the first people started to leave that i needed a ride home. mer had given me a ride to her house and she obvously wasn't leaving...i would have asked her for a ride but she lives way the hell out by lizzy on the outskirts of finley. so russ said he'd give me a ride home, which was very thoughtful of him. but when we did go to leave, his car would not start. i stayed in the back and kept connor occupied by letting him use my fingers as drumsticks and teaching him drum warmups. he liked 5-7-9. we got a jump from mer's dad and managed to limp the car out onto the road. by then we were the last people to leave the party...no leaving fashionably early for me this time! the plan was to take connor and the dying car home and then give me a ride back with their other car. the unfortunate thing was that the car died at the top of garfield hill, right on 27th. the choices then were few: russ could walk home and get the other car while me, barbara, and connor sat tight...or we could call someone. thinking of people to call at 12:30am is somewhat hard. i offered to call my dad, who wouldn't be happy that i had woken him up but would nonetheless be willing to help. and he was. and then, my dad's left tailight was out when he picked me up. therefore: i am a curse to call cars. i'm also a psycho...i had the weirdest dream last night. i was on some kind of band trip, i think it was supposed to be the weekend after graduation. it was a sunday and everyone in the band split to go hang out with their respective youth groups, which were all over the place. i don't go to a youth group, so i kind of wandered amongst all the different people, listening occasionally to speakers and saying hi to people i know. eventually, i was walking along the top of this hill looking down at all the people meeting on the slope...seeing the matching colours of teeshirts and people playing games and stuff. i met up with some people i know at some point, and they walked with me. at one point, something in the distance caught my eye. moving people with little glimmers. as i got closer, i realized that they were people in marching band uniforms...and as i studied them, i was like "hey! it's the blue devils!" i was wondering what the hell the blue devils were doing where we were, since we were on a band trip and i hadn't heard anything about it. they were lining up and going somewhere, so we decided to follow them and see what was up. we followed them to a stadium, where it appeared that some kind of drum corps competition was going on. i was like "yessss! c'mon guys, lets go watch!" because i love that stuff. we walked around this stadium trying to find a way in, and finally we just asked someone where the entrence was. she pointed and said "that way", and we went the way she pointed, but ended up going through all these stores and never making it any further. we went in the first door we came to, which looked like some kind of service entrance but i could hear the blue devils warming up on the field so i was like "maybe this leads at least to a place where we can watch!" it turned out that it did, and it was a perfect angle on the field even though you had to stand. it was like, level with the box. so we watched...it was a really weird and cryptic show. chaotic. in the dream it made more sense but now that i think about it...it was strange. they started out in this gorgeous form that took up the whole field...this big curvy looking thing that reminded me of one of the forms we did in stormquest years ago. but then...it was a bunch of like, running around making forms. like, no one ever seemed to be doing the same thing at the same time. it was like the opposite of marching band. what i remember most is that they had this guy on their colourguard...this really huge guy. very tall, very fat. and he did a backflip, which amazed the crap out of me...then, he rolled around on the field. he rolled onto some people in the front row...it cracked me up. i thought he was going to roll over the pit, but he didn't. many times through their show, everyone would clear the field except for a few people, who would do solos. at one point, they started playing a don ellis tune called "niner-two" and i was like "hey! i love this tune!" and everyone cleared the field except for the drumline. i was expecting something cool to happen but...nothing did. so after that, we figured that we better find lane and find out when we were supposed to be back. we looked all around, and eventually ended up back at the stadium. by now, everyone had found out about the competition and there were realy long lines to get in. we were like "damn! we should have just stayed!" because we saw lane. we got back in eventually, and jacque [ who i had cuaght up with by this point ] wanted to sit down in front but i was like "what the hell do you want to sit down front for? you can't see any of the forms! lets sit up top!" so we went up there and lane addressed all of us, saying that we could stay and watch the bands or we could go do something else, as long as we were back by 5:00pm. so we stayed and watched, and all of the other shows were a lot like the blue devils show we had seen earlier. one band had red uniforms, and they had huge metal swingsets like the ones at the park in their show. i was like "that's lame!" i did not see one flag througout the course of this dream. so i've decided that i'm a tad psycho. crazy obsessed marching band chick. dennys after the show friday night was cool...even though i have to agree with andrew in a lot of aspects about dennys. i just go and drink coffee. the service we got was terrible. the thing i hate most about dennys, though, are the kids who go there every night and order coffee and act all cynical and cool and phony. that's almost as irritating as crappy service. because if there's one thing i can't stand, it's people acting fake. i sat by erik, though, and he was very nice to me. he tried to order a peanut butter shake [ they don't have them on the menu but they've made them for me before ] and the waitress said that they "don't do that." and that they had no peanut butter. like hell they had no peanut butter. that was one of the biggest loads of BS i'd ever heard in my life. he asked another waitress about it, and she said "well, we have peanut butter, and ice cream, how hard could it be?" so our waitress was a jerk and a liar. she got no tip. so this week is my last week. crazy. four days, and then i'm done. i'm SO excited for the concert tomorrow...i can't wait! i have to make some phone calls, though...see if anyone is coming to my graduation. i don't think they are...and seriously, i don't blame them. graduations are boring. i personally don't think it's worth the 4 hour drive that EVERYONE in my family would have to make but...whatever floats their boat. i at least have to tell them i'm graduating, though...so they send me $$$. muahahahahahahaha i'm so greeeeedy!
