how about that weather? 6-22-'o1: 3:04pm day two in the search for a job: sat on my ass in the overly air-conditioned kitchen downloading pat metheny songs off napster and looking for jobs on the internet. it's a step up from the other day, without having to suffer walking to the bus stop in the heat. i know, it's eastern washington and it's not nearly as bad as the south where the air sweats all over you...but i'm a wuss when it comes to the heat. i did manage to find quite a bit of enjoyable pat metheny mp3s, however. i now have three different versions of first circle. one of them is within the crossmen's '98 pat metheny show. or at least, that's what the title says it is. it is sick how much i enjoy hearing pat metheny played drum corps-style. sick sick sick. got some good news at the quartet rehersal yesterday, though...i have a gig this weekend. normally that would stress me out, but for whatever reason i'm not so worried about it. maybe that has something to do with the fact that i'll be making $75 for what i was told should end up being an hour and a half of music. $50 an hour...that's not bad for a punk kid like me sawing on my axe. so i have the wedding rehersal at the doubletree at 5 today...then i should probably practice some of the tunes, seeing that i've only ever sight-read a few of them. so i don't suck. today has been pretty much the same thing as yesterday, except i went to costco. i wanted to get glasses but i guess that my perscription at the optometrist's office expired a few months ago. so i have to go in and have them flash funny things in my eyes again before i can get new glasses. i did end up getting dried apricots, though, which made the trip worth it. and a berry sundae made with chocolate frozen yogurt. this diary is extremely funny. wheatabix is one of kelly's favorite cereals so i thought i'd look at it and i'm quite amused and impressed. i got my housing information from eastern yesterday...which is good because it would be nice to have a place to live. without going broke and all. the problem is that i know what two halls i would like to stay in, but i don't know which of the remaining halls to avoid. i could survive a year living in any of them, i'm sure, but i'd like to minimize the chance that i'd have to live in the library in order to get anything done. so we'll just see about that. the cool thing, though, is i found out that i can save a whole buttload of money by getting a base meal plan instead of a standard. chelsea was telling me that because she chose to buy macaroni and make a lot of her own food [ which is what i'm sure i'll do, after my experiences with the dining hall food at UO last summer ], she ended up with a lot of credits in her account and not a whole lot of time to spend them. if worst comes to worst, i can always beg for money to put into my account. maybe, though, by being forcing myself to be frugal i will avoid the "freshman 15". now, it's all cloudy and gross-looking outside. i swear, i hate the weather here. we better have a thunderstorm or something or i'm going to be pissed. ←/ b a c k w a r d / f o r w a r d /→ |
