WTO...WTF? 11-30-'xx: 4:50pm [ exit music (for a film): radiohead ] so ben has been swooning over the latest political happenings in my dear old city of seattle. he said: "There has been a ton of juicy political activism going on lately in Seattle WA USA. Here is a detailed list of all the events and stuff if you are going to be in the area. Anybody wanna donate a few hundred US dollars to me so I can head over there? Shucks." i e-mailed him saying: "it's a shame that i tore up that $102 check made out to you a year and a half ago....it would come in handy now, wouldn't it?" but i guess i haven't really gotten into anyway, he was talking about things like last year's WTO protests and whatnot. and i don't see how the few good connotations outweigh the bad ones in that case. i mean, this is how i see it. there were a few people with truly sincere ideas who wanted a non-violent, non-destructive protest. then, there were all the people who flooded in and were like... [ once more w/o feeling: pinhead gunpowder ] "dude! protests! let's go fuck shit up, break shit!". they ruined it for everybody but still, somehow, people glorify this event. [ westbound sign: green day ] y'know what my opinion is? i feel embarassed for the whole state. i feel angry that people would go around destroying things, even if they were doing it in protest of the WTO conferences. like in my dream the other night, i truly believe that it isn't the way to gain support for anyone. sure, you get noticed, but then people who really don't know what's going on end up supporting you becase you "fuck shit up", and people who might otherwise be strong and influential supporters end up turning agianst you altogether because of the sheer immaturity of it all. and where can you go from there? all you can acheive with what you gain is more chaos and destruction. it's like walking around in a circle until the grass is dead. unfortunately, not many people are even half this rational. i think people underestimate the power of simple common sense. [ i'm still crying: go sailor ] and now, a year from last year's WTO protest fireworks...what do we have? more people "fuckin' shit up"! i don't even have to prove myself right here. "yeah, i vandalized starbucks". there's only one place that will look good: bragging to your friends about it. and y'know what starbucks is going to do? get new goddamned windows! paint the walls! this is reality, folks, welcome to it. nobody gets anywhere with this crap, ESPECIALLY the "protesters". [ more than a feeling: (as performed by) *nsync ] wow. i talked about politics. who woulda thought. on other fronts...not much is goin' on. i feel a lot better, as far as my infection goes and whatnot. school...yeah. same old, same old. [ morning bell: radiohead ] tomorrow is the first basketball game the pep band is playing at. i LOVE basketball, i'm excited. i get to wear the school spirit shirt i got at st vinnies for like 3 bucks. sweeet action. and i guess the extreme volume of people signing my guestbook proves how hip i really am. mmm-hmmmm. ok, i think i'm going to go, because all i'm accomplishing here is eating large amounts of bagel chips [ which will kill you ] and singing a tad off key from the music [ i never warmed up today. honest! ]. and if you're going to send me hate mail...heh...by all means..... ←/ b a c k w a r d / f o r w a r d /→ |
